Na segunda metade dos anos 1960 ele fez parte do Jazz Messengers de Art Blakey e do quarteto de Charles Lloyd. De 1970 a 1971, excursionou com o grupo fusion de Miles Davis, dividindo os teclados com Chick Corea. Durante os anos 1970 manteve dois quartetos com os quais tocava estilos distintos - um "americano" com Charlie Haden (baixo), Paul Motian (bateria) e Dewey Redman (sax), e outro "europeu" com Jan Garbarek (sax), Palle Danielsson (baixo) e Jon Christensen (bateria). Em 1983 formou um dos grupos mais importantes e duradouros do jazz com o contrabaixista Gary Peacock e o baterista Jack DeJohnette. Gravou dezenas de discos como líder, sozinho ou acompanhando outros músicos, incluindo incursões pela música erudita. Adepto do piano acústico, que praticamente nunca abandonou, Jarrett possui um estilo muito particular de tocar e tem o costume de murmurar enquanto toca, marca presente nos seus discos. Em alguns de seus trabalhos ele ainda pode ser ouvido tocando saxofone ou percussão.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Apesar disso, Keith Jarrett não está entre os músicos de jazz mais comentados entre os amantes do gênero ou indicados para os ouvintes principiantes. Talvez porque ele não esteja tão na mídia americana quanto outros nomes. Mas certamente Jarrett é um músico excepcional que deve ser ouvido por qualquer um que gosta de jazz.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;O excelente álbum "Belonging", gravado em 1974 pela ECM Records, é o primeiro trabalho de Jarrett com o quarteto europeu citado.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Faixas&lt;br /&gt;1. O projeto teve início em 1994, ano em que os três tocaram juntos em Montreux, Suiça. Tal apresentação foi registrada no DVD "Live at Montreux 1994". Em 1995 lançaram o álbum "The Rite of Strings", contendo composições próprias. Nem é preciso dizer o quanto esse disco é bom. Afinal, são três dos maiores virtuoses dos últimos tempos em seus respectivos instrumentos. Os três demonstram química tocando juntos e executam maravilhosos solos. Este álbum, "This Is What I Do", foi lançado quando Sonny tinha 70 anos de idade. Logicamente aqui ele não é o mesmo Sonny Rollins dos anos 1950 e 1960, mas demonstra toda sua vivacidade e maturidade numa excelente performance. A faixa "Salvador", que abre o disco, é uma composição de Rollins com influência da música latina. Três das faixas são versões para antigas canções, as baladas "Sweet Leilani", "A Nightingale Sang in Berkley Square" e "The Moon of Manakoora". As músicas foram compostas por Gil sob encomenda para a trilha sonora do filme homônimo de Cacá Diegues, e as letras foram escritas pelo poeta e letrista Waly Salomão, a convite de Gil. Como o Brasil costuma ficar para trás em quase tudo e não valorizar os seus artistas, na época o LP só foi lançado nos Estados Unidos e na França. "A nova cara do velho Choro", eleito disco do ano de 1998 pelo Jornal Correio Braziliense, é o segundo álbum da dupla, que vem acompanhada de um time de competentes músicos. Além de duas composições de Hamilton, o disco traz releituras de clássicos da música brasileira, incluindo temas de Caetano Veloso, Jacob do Bandolim, Djavan, Waldir Azevedo, Ernesto Nazareth, Pixinguinha e outros. "From All sides", lançado em 1964, registra um desses maravilhosos encontros da bossa nova com o jazz.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Fãs de Guaraldi vão se familiarizar com "Ballad of Pancho Villa", que lembra as clássicas composições do pianista, e "Menino Pequeno da Bateria", uma versão de "My Little Drum". Outras ótimas faixas são "Ginza Samba" de Guaraldi e "Mambeando" de Sete. Cinco das faixas foram gravadas numa sessão com Fred Marshall (baixo) e Jerry Granelli (bateria), enquanto outras foram gravadas com Monty Budwig (baixo) e Nick Martinez (bateria). Se você adora jazz ou quer apenas conhecer os clássicos do gênero, não deixe de ouvir esse álbum. Tão essencial quanto "Kind of Blue" de Miles Davis, "Giant Steps" de John Coltrane ou "Time Out" de Dave Brubeck, "Free Jazz" ficou na história por influenciar muita gente, embora muitos prefiram outros trabalhos de Coleman.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Por que Double Quartet? Bom, em primeiro lugar são oito músicos. Entretanto, eles foram divididos em dois quartetos e em cada canal (direito e esquerdo) se ouve um deles. Por que "A Collective Improvisation"? Porque os oito improvisam ao mesmo tempo. Mas onde está a base? Na cabeça de cada músico. Na verdade há uma perceptível estrutura fundamental que cada um segue. E há várias melodias interagindo e alguns trechos curtos onde eles realmente tocam a mesma coisa. Afinal, há ordem no caos.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;"Free Jazz" foi gravado em dezembro de 1960, e a faixa título, única no vinil, foi gravada sem interrupções, e registrada sem alterações. Naquele ano o quarteto gravou algumas sessões na Atlantic Records, dando origem a três álbuns - "My Favorite Things" (1961), "Coltrane Plays The Blues" (1962) e "Coltrane's Sound" (1964). O último deles talvez seja o menos lembrado, mas é também um excelente álbum. Todas as faixas são muito bem executadas, nas quais Coltrane aplicou uma variedade ritmica surpreendente. Neste álbum ouvimos o sax soprano de Coltrane na balada "Central Park West" e em "26-2". "Satellite" traz um trio de sax tenor, baixo e bateria, com Coltrane bastante livre para o improviso. O blues está presente em "Equinox", uma longa faixa carregada do sentimento que só aquele estilo pode oferecer. A parceria entre os músicos já havia rendido os álbuns "Mágico" (1980) e "Folk Songs" (1981), ambos com Jan Garbarek completando o trio. Aqui o grupo intercala composições inspiradas em peças de Johann Sebastian Bach com blues/bop. O pianista John Lewis, que neste álbum varia entre o cravo e o piano, escreveu a maioria das composições, demonstrando sua competência para ambos a música erudita ocidental e o jazz. Este é um trabalho mais técnico, deixando um pouco de lado a improvisação. Curtir esse álbum requer uma certa dose de gosto para a música erudita, mas também é uma ótima oportunidade para quem ainda não dedicou tempo a escutar esse tipo de música, ainda mais sendo executada pelo MJQ.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Faixas:&lt;br /&gt;1. No album "P.S. Mr.Cole" - na minha opnião é o cd mais espetacular do Pizzarelli - ele regrava grandes clássicos da carreira do Nat King Cole.&lt;div align="justify"&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Tem do swing ao romantismo. Claro que é um álbum voltado para o jazz mais swingado, mais solado (até por que ao meu ver é a especialidade do Pizzarelli). Eu não vou conseguir falar de todas as músicas, vou falar das principais, o album começa com: "Walkin' My Baby Back Home" - otima musica - em seguinda vem "Candy" - música que também foi gravada no cd "My Blue Heaven" , uma música relativamente calma. Depois a sequência de músicas é simplesmente fantastica: "Welcome to the Club" , "Indiana" - essas musicas assim como outras que vou citar é a "cara" do Pizzarelli, aquele jazz agitado, com muito solo - alem dessas duas tem mais musicas nesse estilo: "I'm an Errand Boy for Rhythm", "I Know That You Know". Mais não é só de músicas assim que é feito o álbum, "Smile" é um exemplo, nossa é uma música linda, inclusive a letra (tradução) - que fala sobre: Sorrir mesmo tudo não vá bem. Sorrir mesmo que seu coração doa.  Outra música que segue o mesmo estilo é "I Love You for Sentimental Reasons". &lt;/div&gt;&lt;div align="justify"&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Bom "P.S. Trevor é mais conhecido por seus trabalhos com o Mr. Bungle, banda que ajudou a fundar, e com o Fantômas (banda do seu amigo de escola Mike Patton), além das incontáveis colaborações em trabalhos do saxofonista John Zorn, tornando-se quase um "membro oficial" dos projetos de Zorn. Ao longo dos anos, ele tem trabalhado com músicos diversos, a maioria desconhecida do grande público, incluindo Shelley Burgon, Andrew D'Angelo, Tin Hat Trio, Secret Chiefs 3, Melvins, Rob Price, Yuka Honda, Erik Friedlander, John Schott, Ben Goldberg e muitos outros. Em 2008 lançou o álbum "Four Films", no qual toca a maioria dos instrumentos. Com o "Trevor Dunn's Trio Convulsant", um trio de guitarra, baixo e bateria, gravou dois álbuns.
